Prof. Dr. S. M. Mamun Iqbal is a highly qualified and accomplished cardiologist with over 15 years of extensive clinical and academic experience in interventional and clinical cardiology. He is widely respected for his patient-centered approach, precision in complex cardiac interventions and commitment to advancing cardiovascular care in Bangladesh. Over his career, he has served in some of the country’s most prestigious institutions, including the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), United Hospital Ltd., Zia Heart Foundation & Research Institute, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Z. H. Sikder Women’s Medical College & Hospital and Japan East West Medical College Hospital. A skilled interventional cardiologist, Dr. Iqbal has independently performed more than 1,000 percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), including 400+ primary PCIs, with several landmark cases such as device closure of post-infarction ventricular septal rupture and primary PCI in the oldest recorded patient in the subcontinent. His research and case presentations have been recognized at leading global cardiology congresses, including ESC, TCTAP, Asia PCR and CRT, with awards such as Best Case Presentation at TCTAP 2018. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, including studies on myocardial infarction, bifurcation lesions, and clinical drug trials in acute coronary syndrome.
