Your Rights as a Patient

  • Right to Proper Medical Care: You have the right to receive the best care medically indicated for your condition, delivered according to international professional standards, regardless of age, gender, religion, nationality, race, or source of payment.
  • Right to Information and Understanding: You are entitled to receive all necessary information about your diagnosis, treatment plan, and prognosis, and know the names of the doctors responsible for your care.
    • Assistance will be provided for language, disability, or comprehension barriers.
    • Parents, guardians, or designated individuals may represent you if you cannot make your own decisions.
  • Right to Be Treated Respectfully: Your individuality, cultural background, and preferences will be respected. You will receive helpful and respectful responses to your queries.
  • Right to a Second Opinion: You may request a second opinion from another doctor or a Medical Board if you feel the current treatment plan does not meet your needs.
  • Right to Leave the Hospital: You may leave even against medical advice, but the hospital will not be responsible for resulting harm. A “Discharge Against Medical Advice” form must be signed.
  • Right to Be Free from Restraint: You will not be restrained unless medically necessary and only with informed consent from you or your family.
  • Right to Privacy and Confidentiality: Your privacy is protected at all times. Medical information is not disclosed without your consent, except when required by law.
  • Right to Informed Consent: No treatment will be given without informed consent, based on full disclosure of diagnosis, treatment, risks, and alternatives.
  • Right to Access Medical Information: You may request information about your treatment or a copy of your medical record. In rare cases, access may be restricted if it poses harm, subject to Ethics Committee review.
  • Right to Care Under Emergency: You will receive unconditional emergency medical treatment. In life-saving situations, doctors may proceed even without consent as per hospital policy.
  • Right to Be Informed About Treatment Costs: You may receive up-to-date billing information daily, according to hospital policies.
  • Right to Complain: You may lodge complaints about healthcare personnel, waiting time, operating hours, conduct, or facilities.

Your Responsibilities as a Patient

  • Be Honest and Participate: Provide accurate information about your illness and participate actively in decision-making.
  • Treat Staff with Respect: Treat hospital staff with courtesy. Any form of abuse is unacceptable.
  • Follow Treatment Advice: Follow all medical instructions and discuss concerns with your caregivers.
  • Complete the Course of Treatment: Take prescribed medicines and complete your treatment plan.
  • Provide Feedback: Help improve services by completing feedback forms.
  • Use Emergency Services Judiciously: Only use emergency services for genuine emergencies.
  • Respect Others' Rights: Respect the privacy and rights of other patients. Ensure visitors follow hospital rules and visiting hours.
  • Abide by Hospital Rules: Follow all hospital policies, including the “No Smoking” rule.
  • Ensure Timely Payment: Pay hospital bills promptly and provide necessary billing information when required.
