Professor and Head, Department of Orthopedics
Prof. Dr. Md. Sajjad Husain is a renowned orthopedic surgeon with decades of experience in trauma, joint disorders and surgical orthopedics. Currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Orthopedics at MH Samorita Hospital & Medical College, he is widely respected for his surgical precision, academic leadership and compassionate patient care. His expertise spans trauma surgery, joint replacement, sports injuries management, minimally invasive orthopedic procedures and spinal surgery, with specialized training received both at home and abroad, including AO Principles of Operative Fracture Management (India) and AO Advanced Operative Fracture Management (Malaysia).
An active academician, Dr. Husain has served as faculty for postgraduate and undergraduate medical education, supervised multiple MS (Orthopedics) theses and acted as examiner for MS and Diploma Orthopedics final examinations under Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Bangladesh Medical University.
He is deeply engaged with professional bodies worldwide. He is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), USA and a life member of the Bangladesh Orthopedic Society (former Secretary General), ASAMI Bangladesh Chapter, Bangladesh Hand Society, Bangladesh Spine Society and Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh. He is also an active member of the AO Alumni Group, Switzerland. Over his distinguished career, he has served at several prestigious institutions, including NITOR, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital and Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Husain has authored numerous scientific publications in the Journal of Bangladesh Orthopedic Society, covering fracture management, joint replacement, Ilizarov techniques and hip arthroplasty. Through his extensive contributions in patient care, surgical innovation, teaching, and research, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Husain continues to shape the future of orthopedic surgery in Bangladesh.
